Presented by authors of American Shtetl: The Making of Kiryas Joel, a Hasidic Village in Upstate New York, Nomi Stolzenberg and David N. Meyers.
The authors will present via Zoom a history of the Satmar sect of Orthodox Judaism and their settlement into Orange County. Their book paints a richly textured portrait of daily life in Kiryas Joel, exploring the community’s guiding religious, social, and economic norms.
